Chepstow / Clifton Accomdation Blocks

Chepstow / Clifton Accomdation Blocks - Brunel University

The Chepstow and Clifton accommodation blocks are some of the original student halls of residence on Brunel Universities West London campus. They are named after some of the most famous bridges designed by the universities namesake, Isambard Kingdom Brunel, and provide a combined total of 467 student rooms.

Recently completed by Palcon Energy Services Ltd in conjunction with AC Preou, the works on the Chepstow and Clifton accommodation blocks have seen the total refurbishment of the Domestic Hot Water Systems and Cold-Water Services serving the newly refurbished rooms.

Comprising of conventional LTHW plate heat exchangers fed from existing boiler systems, the new installation features carbon neutral Solar Water Heating systems by Kingspan to preheat the mains incoming cold water expected to produce 24,000kWh, nearly 7% of the energy used to heat the hot water used in each building.

Local heat meters connected to the BMS system provide the University's Estates Department with real time information on energy being harvested from the Solar systems for further analysis.

Connected to the site wide Ethernet infrastructure, the new system based on Trend IQ3XCITE series controllers will allow for increased monitoring of critical systems and temperatures.
