Atlantic House, Reading

Atlantic House, Reading

Completed in March 2025, the Atlantic House project transformed an existing three-story office block into 6,500m² of modern commercial workspace through a shell and core refurbishment.

Partnering with MCS Group, Palcon Energy Services Ltd played a lead role in the design and installation of the building management system (BMS), ensuring optimal performance and efficiency for the newly upgraded facility.

The central plant incorporates two dedicated air source heat pumps, engineered to provide secondary heating and cooling, complemented by circulation pumps and packaged air handling units. The centralised MCP control, utilizing Trend IQ4e controllers, integrates seamlessly with the wider BMS infrastructure, while a Trend Tonn8 interface enables full system visibility and control for users of the 3rd party packaged equipment and systems installed.

Within the office space, environmental conditions are regulated through a combination of LTHW radiant panels, Trend IQEco-controlled fan coil units, and local VAV and CAV boxes, networked via Produal SRC room units,. These systems ensure precise CO² monitoring and occupancy-based climate control, optimizing air quality and energy usage.

Each floor features dedicated MCP control, managing the interface between various systems while dynamically feeding demand signals to the main plant to enhance operational efficiency. This tiered control strategy grants users fine-tuned local and global control over indoor environmental conditions.

The naturally ventilated atrium façade is equipped with automated window systems, integrated with the BMS via a dedicated weather station and local temperature monitoring.

The buildings performance is meticulously tracked through extensive array of electrical meters, energy meters on primary and secondary circulation systems, and pulse meters linked to water supplies.

The integration of multiple advanced BMS technologies, the refurbishment of Atlantic House provides a high-performance, energy-efficient workspace tailored for modern commercial needs.
