Project Maia, Infineum HQ

Project Maia, Infineum HQ

Officially opened in November 2019, the new Global Centre of Innovation at Infinuem’s Headquarters in Milton Hill in Oxfordshire is a state of the art 3 storey facility featuring research laboratories, offices, meeting rooms and collaborative spaces together with full commercial kitchen and dining areas.

The building, an extension the existing James Watt building on the site will provide Infinuem, one of the world leaders in the formulation, manufacture and marketing of petroleum additives for fuels and lubricants improved infrastructure that supports their technology leadership.

Already responsible for the management and maintenance of existing control systems onsite, Palcon Energy Services Ltd, specified by Infineum and working with Briggs and Forester were appointed for the design, installation and delivery of the building management system to serve the new complex.

Based on Trend IQ4e controllers, selected to match and extend the current site infrastructure, the design takes direct control of laboratory, kitchen and general ventilation systems, heating and cooling systems throughout the building along with extensive monitoring of a number of 3rd party systems.

The laboratory ventilation system comprises a number of critical systems with control and management of the fume cupboards provided by Phoenix Controls. The system, directly integrated into the BMS package allows the real time reading of required air volumes in order to correctly control the dedicated supply and extract fans serving the space. The system allows energy savings to be maximised whilst maintaining the required safety integrity for the laboratory operatives.

Additional Synapsys SIP modules allow for further integration of core services including a packaged chiller and the buildings electrical circuits whilst energy data for gas and water consumption is extensively monitored via the use of pulse meters.

Using Trend Control Systems new IQ Vision supervisory package, and taking advantage of its ability to directly communicate with 3rd party systems, all the operational and performance data is instantly and clearly presented to the onsite facilities team.
